  • Working on the global flow of the game and all the levels' (15) layout and blocking.

  • Creating and integrating 3 complete levels.

  • General game design assistance on part of the project (like the controller).

  • Creating tools for rational level design and balancing certain parts of the game.

  • Testing and making feedback to enhance the experience.

DESIGN OVERVIEW

I will be able to dive deeper into my design processes once the game is released!

POST MORTEM

WHAT WENT WELL :

I could experience what it's like to work in a video game studio, and not just on a student project.

I could practice my English with foreign developers working with me on this project.

I could focus a part of my internship on level design for different types of levels and gameplay.

WHAT DIDN'T GO WELL :

I also had to endorse different roles such as manager for a time because of the size of the team (only 2 to 5 people depending on the time period).

We had an off-peak period during which we finished our pre-production but we couldn't begin the production because we needed more people on board.

FINAL THOUGHTS :

It was a good experience to see how a studio work, and how they manage their employees and their projects. Now I want to try working with a larger team where I could focus entirely on level design.
